"Drive it Day. 25th April 2010

This year we thought we would have a change and terminated our run at the Air Museum at Elvington Airfield near York.  As usual we started at the Racecourse at York, where approximately 30 vehicles assembled (more than last year). Quite a number of first timers.

The start of the run saw us running out of York on to the by-pass (A64), then on to the A19 towards Selby, turning left at CrockeyHill then on to Elvington via Wheldrake.  Elvington Airfield has a large range of historic aircraft with much to see, also a NAAFI with good food.

During the afternoon we had a storm when the heavens opened, but it was all over in about half an hour and generally it was a wonderful outing.

Bring Your Vehicle Night
15th June 2010

This was our usual mid-year get together at the York Gliding Club at Rufforth, just outside York.  At Rufforth we have the use of the clubhouse, but we provide our own food. These refreshments being prepared by our member Peter Wray and his wife.

This get-together was very good and popular and attracted a large number of people (it must be the food).  However, the weather was good this year and a good time was had by all.

Drive-it Day
26th April 2009

At about 9.00am approximately 20 vehicles (cars and commercials) assembled on the A64 outside York.  After a general discussion , route sheets were handed out and everybody moved off  in the direction of Malton.

To make things interesting, the route took us through Flaxton and Sheriff Hutton and after a good 1 in 6 climb on to Terrington.  After this we passed through lovely wooded Castle Howard park to Coneysthorpe and then on to Malton town.   Passing through Malton to Old Malton and on to Eden Camp, which is the best war museum in the north of England. The exhibits are too numerous to mention but it is a first class show .

After a meal in the canteen (Naafi) and a good natter we set off for home and reflected on another good day out.
