Report on the
2010 Knavesmire Rally
held on
26th September 2010

Again we had a wonderful rally with good weather and a good mix of vehicles of all types. Approximately 600 vehicles turned up.  There were 12 car club stands.

On the day 20 trade stands set out their stalls selling a wide range of automotive related products.  We also had a craft tent.

The 2009 Annual Knavesmire Rally
held on
27th September

Because the 2008 rally had been cancelled due to flooding, the entrants were given a free entry for 2009.  Therefore, we were guaranteed over 600 vehicles to start with, but this was increased through the year to an estimated total of 700, so we expected a big turnout.

Running concurrently with this rally was the North Yorks Moors Road Run, which was organized by our committee member Mr Jim Beresford.

Vehicles on this run would assemble at York on the Saturday morning, then run over the moors to Whitby and  on to Scarborough for the overnight stop. On the Sunday morning the run would continue back to York and join the rally on the race course.

Tragically during the year Jim became ill with a recurrence of an old illness and sadly died.  A friend of Jim's, Mr Jim Doig, stepped in and made a first class job of the road run.

On the Sunday afternoon, in beautiful weather, we had approximately 700 rally entries plus up to  100  lorries from the road run.

A wonderful turnout!!!

I thank the sponsors—Ebor Trucks, Transport Fabrications, John Denning Skips and Pullman Coaches.

A good way to remember Jim and end the year's rallying !!!
